In May, the documentary film Fed Up made a splash in theaters nationwide and The Kids Cook Monday was excited to be part of the action. The film explores how diets high in processed and sugary foods instead of home-cooked meals leads to childhood obesity. We participated in the Fed Up Challenge (to go sugar free for 10 days) and contributed sugar-free recipes to the film’s resources.
Haven’t seen it yet? Fed Up is now available for home viewing and Monday, September 22nd is Fed Up’s National House Party Day. We’ve teamed up with the film to create a free screening kit packed with discussion questions, healthy party ideas and recipes from The Kids Cook Monday’s bloggers to help you host a fun and educational viewing party for your family and friends.
Sign up to host a party here and receive your free copy of the screening kit. Then, at 8 pm (EST) on Monday, September 22nd, you can join Fed Up’s producer and our friend Laurie David (author of The Family Dinner and The Family Cooks) as well as director Stephanie Soechtig and child nutrition expert Dr. Robert Lustig for a Facebook Q&A about the film.
We hope the film inspires you to make cooking together an even more regular occurrence in your household. Happy viewing!
