These popcorn balls are a fun snack to cook together, plus they have a nutritional boost from the whole grains in the popcorn and vitamins and minerals found in pistachios! This recipe comes to us from our friends at Setton Farms.
Makes 10 balls
Cooking Tip of the Week: When you’re melting the buttery spread and marshmallows together, watch the mixture carefully! It can burn very quickly. Turn of the heat as soon as the mixture starts to turn brown.
Food for Thought: How does popcorn pop, anyway? Inside each kernel of corn is a tiny bit of water. When the water is heated, it turns into steam and the kernel can’t take the pressure anymore, so it pops and turns inside out!!
Conversation Starter: Did you know that pistachios and cashews are cousins? What do you have in common with your cousins? What’s different?
Together: In a 4-6 quart heavy pot, add buttery spread, marshmallows, cinnamon and sea salt.
Adult: Cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Together: Turn off heat and add popcorn, vanilla extract and Pistachio Chewy Bites. Stir well, mixing until uniform.
Together: Use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to portion out the mixture into 10 balls and place on a parchment or wax paper lined baking sheet.
Kid: Enjoy when cooled.
