Greek Brown and Wild Rice Bowl

This fresh rice dish tastes like the Mediterranean in a bowl! It’s short on ingredients, but packs in so much flavor. For a hand-held version, leave out the rice and tuck the rest of the ingredients in a pita pocket. This recipe comes to us courtesy of Taste of Home.

Cooking Tip of the Week: Cooking fluffy brown rice can be easy! Rinse the dried rice, boil it in a large pot of water (just like when you prepare pasta!) for 30 minutes, drain the water, and put a lid on it to steam for 10 minutes.

Food for Thought: Rice is a staple for many people worldwide. Brown rice offers more fiber, B vitamins, protein and minerals than white rice, making it a healthier choice.

Family Dinner Conversation Starter: What is your favorite smell? Why?


Adult: Peel and slice avocados.

Adult: Slice cherry tomatoes in half.

Adult: Pit and slice olives.

Adult: Combine rice mix and 2 tablespoons of vinaigrette in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high until heated through.

Kid: Divide the rice between two bowls.

Together: Top with avocado, tomatoes, cheese, olives, and remaining dressing.
