Mario Batali’s Sons Pen Kid-Friendly Cookbook

Growing up at the apron strings of their famous chef dad Mario, Benno and Leo Batali picked up a trick or two in the kitchen. And when Mario Batali turned 50 in 2010, the boys decided to make him a homemade cookbook of the recipes they love to cook for him. Now those recipes are collected in Benno and Leo Batali’s first cookbook, The Batali Brothers Cookbook(Ecco, $14.99).

Benno, 16, and Leo, 14, include recipes that are the perfect companion for any Kids Cook Monday meal. Easy and delicious, the recipes include new twists on classic favorites like Cinnamon Swirl French Toast and Sloppy Joes, as well as more refined fare like Triple P Salad (Potatoes, Peas and Pesto) and Kale Salad with Lemon Dressing. And because these recipes were created by kids, they’re easy for any kid to master.

Part Two of the book features Mario’s “Family Favorites,” 26 recipes he loves making with and for the boys and their mom, Susi Cahn. These simpler takes on some of Mario’s classic recipes are also great for kid chefs to tackle with assistance from a parent.

Any Kids Cook Monday chef looking to expand his or her repertoire should definitely check out The Batali Brothers Cookbook.
